Throughout my career at Nike, which has been marked by a commitment to innovation, performance, and personal growth, as well as my own personal health journey that has evolved over the years, I have always sought ways to remain active and seamlessly integrate physical activity into my everyday life. This pursuit of an active lifestyle is not just a routine for me; it is a passion that fuels my spirit and enhances my well-being. I have a deep appreciation for the beautiful landscapes and diverse environments that Oregon has to offer.

The state of Oregon is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, from lush forests to stunning coastlines, and I relish the opportunity to explore these remarkable places. Since I can no longer run due to health constraints, I have turned to cycling as my primary means of staying active. I find immense joy in bringing my road bike or mountain bike along with me to discover the incredible areas I visit. When I was leading the effort to build the Maupin Deschutes River Athletic Complex or the McKenzie Community Track and Field, I made it a point to prioritize my physical activity even amidst a busy schedule filled with meetings and planning sessions.

After fulfilling my responsibilities and engaging with the community in these important projects, I would load my bikes onto my car and take the time to explore the surrounding areas. This not only provided me with a much-needed break from the demands of work but also allowed me to connect with the local environment and appreciate the unique features of each location.
Cycling through the scenic routes along the Deschutes River or navigating the trails near McKenzie gave me a fresh perspective on the projects I was involved in, as I could see firsthand how these athletic complexes would benefit the community and promote an active lifestyle for others.

My experiences on the bike have deepened my understanding of the importance of accessibility to outdoor activities and the role that well-designed athletic facilities play in fostering a culture of health and fitness.
This was the beginning of an idea that has now emerged as a comprehensive Brand and business opportunity we are enthusiastically calling "Move Oregon." This initiative is not just a concept; it represents a significant movement aimed at fostering a culture of activity, exploration, and community engagement across the stunning landscapes of Oregon.

The vision behind Move Oregon is to inspire individuals and families to get moving and explore the breathtaking natural beauty that the state has to offer. Oregon is home to a diverse array of environments, from the majestic Cascade Mountains and the serene coastline to the lush forests and vibrant urban areas.

Our goal is to encourage people to immerse themselves in these beautiful settings and to build a strong sense of community through shared outdoor activities and experiences. While there are hundreds of Non Profits dedicated to promoting recreation and sports, many of these organizations operate in isolation, often unaware of one another's efforts and resources. Move Oregon aims to bridge these gaps, serving as the connective tissue and fabric that weaves together the various strands of healthy movement and community engagement throughout the state of Oregon.
This initiative presents a unique opportunity to explore the seven distinct regions of Oregon—each with its own character, attractions, and recreational offerings. By encouraging exploration and participation in local activities, we aim to stimulate community interaction and bring economic benefits to areas that could greatly benefit from increased visitor engagement, particularly during off-peak seasons. Our vision is to create a network that not only promotes physical activity but also enhances the overall well-being of individuals and communities. To achieve this ambitious goal, we hope to forge partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including local businesses, non-profit organizations, and healthcare companies.
Together, we can create a robust support system for those who are eager to become more active but may feel uncertain about how to begin their journey.

Furthermore, we aspire to connect individuals with coaches and mentors who can provide guidance and encouragement. Our initiative will also emphasize the importance of nutritional awareness, mindfulness, and mental health advocacy, recognizing that a holistic approach to wellness is essential for thriving communities. By building community through these shared values and experiences, we hope to cultivate a culture of health and vitality that resonates across the state.

As we move forward, we are in the process of launching our initial activities this coming spring and summer we are eager to reach out to those who are interested in learning more about how they can get involved. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of Oregonians and foster a vibrant, active, and connected community. To get involved send us an email at moveoregon25@gmail.com
